Joy Zabala was deeply proud to have been a part of the field of education for more than forty years. She was a universally respected pioneer in Assistive Technology (AT) and eventually joined the staff at CAST to concentrate on accessible educational materials and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and their relationship to AT. She was an internationally active conference presenter, a co-founder of Quality Indicators for Assistive Technology (QIAT), and the creator of The SETT Framework, utilized throughout the world. 

 

The SETT Framework is a four-part model (Student, Environments, Tasks, Tools) which promotes collaborative decision-making in all phases of assistive technology service design and delivery.
